Amy Fugman is a second-generation Journal-listed Christian Science nurse. After a healing as a teenager, which her mom said tested all her skills as a Christian Science nurse, Amy became more interested in Christian Science and got a job at the local Christian Science nursing facility working in housekeeping and laundry. She fell in love with the patients and had a glimpse of what she would later discover was “servant leadership”. After High School, Amy gave up a significant college scholarship to take classes at Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association and at Tenacre and completed all her OJT at Peace Haven Association. Amy has served in many capacities through the years and especially enjoys working with people in their homes and with children. She has had the privilege of serving as a Christian Science nurse in camp settings and at Principia School. In addition to responding to local care needs and serving at Christian Science camps in the summer, Amy currently works for The Principle Foundation as a Grant Administrator and also part-time for The Commission for Accreditation of Christian Science Nursing Organizations/Facilities, Inc. as the Review Coordinator.
It took 20+ years, but Amy earned a BS in Public Administration, with honors, from Upper Iowa University in 2017. She is grateful for her local branch church and serves in Sunday School, in the Reading Room and on the Executive Board. Amy and her husband, Varon, are based in St. Louis, MO and have 3 children in various stages of college life and a rambunctious Golden Retriever they enjoy taking on long hikes and travel adventures.
